I hear so many sermons that include vague statements like “Jesus can make a difference in your life.” And I’m conflicted. Of COURSE He can! He does! But that’s not the #1 reason why He came.

So why isn’t the true, complete gospel preached more often in our churches? I don’t think some church attenders even KNOW the true biblical gospel, and they may be destined for hell (Matthew 7:14). Others have a vague sense that “if I believe God exists,” “accept Jesus into my heart,” or “believe that Jesus died on the cross for the sins of everyone in the world [so therefore ‘I’m covered’]” - that “mental assent” is all that’s required (even though “…the demons believe-and shudder!” - James 2:19).

Do preachers think we’ll bore of hearing the gospel each week? Are they afraid people will be offended by hearing about God as a Righteous Judge who must punish sin? Will mentioning hell and sin and repentance and contrition clear out the pews?!

Even the songs on Christian radio talk generally about God “following us” with his love, and how that will make a difference in our lives. It’s not a bad thing to say, it’s just incomplete. Jesus came to seek and save sinners! (Luke 19:10) If preachers don’t present the true, complete gospel, people cannot be truly saved from spiritual death and hell. And there is no second chance after you're dead! (Luke 16:19-31) There may be false converts in our pews, our small groups, and our Vacation Bible Schools! The “Good News” won’t be received as the miracle it is unless we humans realize we are completely incapable of fellowship with God without Christ’s life, suffering, crucifixion, death, and resurrection being credited to us!

So I’m concerned, and I want to do my part, as God sees fit to give me opportunity to teach or preach.

I will do my best to teach the Bible to kids, teens, or adults in any setting. I will strive to present the gospel clearly, completely, and in a biblically accurate (and age-appropriate) way. There is NOTHING more important in the universe!

I thought it might be fun to give you the "quick version" of how I got into doing music/ministry/mentoring for kids & teens (and how Carrie Underwood's guitarist impacted my life!):

I loved baseball and surfing as a youth in CA, but my parents suggested I take piano lessons at age 14. (I did)

At age 15, a friend said, "You're a good singer. You should join the high school choir." (I did)

The first day of choir, I was humming a song as I walked past Shawn Tubbs (now a guitarist for Carrie Underwood). He said, "Hey! My band plays that song. You should come sing with us sometime." (I did)

Then Shawn and I joined another band with a guy named Andrew (my first songwriting experience!)

In 1995, my mom suggested I join the "Summer Vocal Teams" at Mariners Church in SoCal (I did)

...which led me to meet Craig and Diane Hodgkins. Diane loaned me a Steven Curtis Chapman video, which inspired me to become an artist.

...I started writing songs again, but the songs I wrote didn't song like "grown-up" songs!

Months later, Hermelinda Navarrete (a Children's Ministry worker at Mariners) suggested I sing and lead the 5th-6th graders (I did)

Then, when Trisha Graves (the Children's Pastor) didn't really like the theme song that came with a VBS curriculum in 2002, she asked me to write one (I did - "The Bug Song"!)

Then, after hearing several songs I'd written for the kids, a group of families came to me, offering to help me pay to record my first album (they did, I did!)

And that's how God did it!

I don't stand onstage next to Carrie Underwood like my friend Shawn does, but I have been delighted and humbled to stand onstage next to YOUR CHILDREN, pointing them toward Jesus Christ, God's son (and hopefully, brightening their day!). I give God thanks and praise for that opportunity!

We want them to benefit from the wisdom of our experience. But what if they're like I was, and they won't take their parents' advice?

One word: mentors.

My Music & Performing Arts Workshops (which begin next month Sep. 9-10 weekend in Mission Viejo, CA) will include a mentoring component. My aim is to help your kids find local, godly mentors to speak into their lives from time to time. I'll share about how my older brother mistreated me for many years, then repented and changed completely! I'll share how I have struggled with timidity and overcame it (2 Timothy 1:7).

I know we live in a social media age. I know that kids spend 7 1/2 hours a day looking at their screens, sometimes wishing they were someone else. I know that a lot of adults think we've "lost" the culture war. Maybe it's true. But there is still hope! (Psalm 73:25)

If you'll spread the word and help me get an audience of 8-18 year old kids & teens in Mission Viejo in 3 weeks https://www.mookidcity.com/worshipworkshop, I'll give it all I've got to remind them of who they are in Christ. I'll let them share their thoughts, and ideas, and creativity. And we'll have a BLAST singing, dancing, and performing a show for you!
If you would SHARE my posts and links on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, I'd sure appreciate it.

Many thanks to everyone at First Pres. Jeffersonville, Prince of Peace Lutheran, First Pres. Bakersfield, The Cause Church, and Mt. Zion Christian. It was so much fun! I trust that God stirred hearts, and drew his children to him.

I will continue to do music concerts going forward, but I am also adding Performing Arts Camps/Workshops to my event schedule.

These events cost $0 to the host church. I just need help getting the word out, and a few volunteers.

8-18 year olds from your local church, Christian schools, homeschool groups, public schools, and community kids will pay a small registration fee to learn to become better singers, dancers, actors/speakers/presenters, and songwriters for Jesus Christ!

Stay tuned for many more details. So far I have events planned for California, Kentucky, Ohio, and Illinois. - Rob B. 7/20/17
Rob Biagi Musictag:thatrobguy.com,2005:Post/47564342017-06-24T21:38:22-04:002017-06-24T21:38:22-04:00You Make the Call...
I was talking recently with a friend whose kids' faith in Christ stalled after high school.

They had memorized Scripture, they had sung and danced to Rob Biagi songs as wholeheartedly as elementary schoolkids can, and they had prayed sincerely to trust Christ for the forgiveness of sin and to be a "new creation" (2 Cor. 5:17). But, as of now, their walks with Christ are stalled.

So that got me thinking...what's our response when a child, or adult, professes faith in Christ? Do we rejoice and cheer loudly, as "all of heaven" does in Luke 15:7?

Or do we say, "We'll see..."

Wow. I don't want to be THAT guy...but there is an element of hoping, isn't there? I hope the "decisions for Christ" we see in our ministries, families and neighborhoods are true conversions. Let's celebrate now...but time will tell (Matt. 24:13).

Man! The Christian life sure requires FAITH.

I welcome your comments.
Rob Biagi Musictag:thatrobguy.com,2005:Post/47366182017-06-07T12:19:09-04:002021-12-23T04:37:30-05:00Understanding Your Creative, Artistic, or Sensitive Child
I played sports as a kid. My parents wanted me to be well-rounded. I'm glad they did! No matter what activity breaks out at a social gathering, family reunion, or corporate outing, I can throw/catch/dribble/shoot/surf/run/skate/hit a golf ball without hesitation.

But when scheduling wouldn't allow BOTH baseball AND our High School Musical, I quit baseball quickly and decisively.

My dad and I had some tension back then, and I didn't feel heard or understood by him (he didn't feel heard or understood by ME, either!). He did great overall, though.

My dad was/is SUCH an example of loyalty, determination, work ethic, being a provider, loving his wife and kids, and having a great work/life balance. And he humbly loves God, too. Now that I think of it, I want to be more like my dad. He would always ask me to play piano and sing "Just the Way You Are" by Billy Joel, while he sat and listened and got choked up. We're alike in THAT way!

But I am one of those creative, artistic, sensitive types. I don't fit in sometimes. I don't want to talk about college basketball, ESPN, or business. Maybe your kid is more like me.

If so, I want to help you understand and raise that sensitive, creative, artistic kid. Tell me your story on email...info@robbiagi.com

Can you wordsmiths out there help me edit it down?

"My heart for ministry is to find disengaged, disinterested, or shy boys* (like I was!), to help them identify their performing arts gifts, and to encourage them to STEP UP and USE those gifts for God's glory!

Through weekend Performing Arts Workshops that cost $0 for host churches, I help inspire kids and teens to lead Kids' Worship, Youth Worship, and Adult Worship, and to one day become men who are ENGAGED, INTERESTED, and BOLD for Christ."

*girls will be a part of the workshops as well.

(Remember, this is just a brainstorm...)

Rob Biagi Musictag:thatrobguy.com,2005:Post/47290852017-05-31T18:54:23-04:002017-06-01T16:21:34-04:00Singing and Leading Worship is Not “Feminine”
Many of today’s church men are uninspired and disengaged, which is not surprising, considering that they were once elementary-age boys who were uninspired and disengaged. Did the Church music, teaching, and storytelling of their childhood not "turn them on" and fire up their imaginations enough to ignite a true zeal and passion for Christ? Did the Holy Spirit fall down on the job? Certainly not! Were the Kids’ Worship leaders of the ‘80s and ‘90s ineffective? I don’t know. But it gets me thinking about the up-and-coming generation…

I feel called to help boys (and girls!) at your churches and in your communities to discover the performing arts gifts that God has given them. I will encourage them to USE those gifts in Kids’ Worship, Youth Worship, and even Adult Worship. My team and I will do workshops to help them become better singers, dancers, songwriters, and (Lord willing…) evangelizers. We will remind them (or TELL them!) that their gifts come from God, and should be used for his glory and his purposes!

And servants of God must be bold, and step up.

So...I am looking for churches to host my Performing Arts Weekend Workshops for kids 8-18 years old. Will you help me pull an event together at your church?

After all, there may be a future worship leader or best-selling author in your community who just needs a little godly "push." Let’s FIND THEM and ENCOURAGE them!

And there are many musicians in the group as well. I enjoyed reading ALL of your responses, but here are a few highlights (sorry I couldn't include everyone):

“We love your music and the boys have grown up with following your family.”

“Thank you for the love and hope you bring to so many kids who are searching for their identity.”

“It was wonderful to see my kids sing and get into the motions of your songs, especially our son, who did not like to sing, let alone dance!”

“I remember one morning in 2008 when my son was about 8 years old. They were taking up a special offering for you and your daughter's leukemia treatment and as he was getting ready for VBS he emptied his wallet into his pockets. I asked him if he didn't want to save just a little bit and his response was, ‘I don't really need anything, and it's more important to save a life.’”

“Our daughter, Emily, could not stop singing your songs. For hours. And hours.”

“…and just recently we were all in the car singing....after prompted by Connor ‘Hey mom, do you remember Rob Biagi - You’re a V.I.P. to G-O-D?!” We LOVE that song!”

“Thanks for your influence in my daughter’s life through your music! She LOVES music, and I’m sure part of that comes from listening to you!”

“My daughter really got into your music when she was only a year old in 2005. We were living in CA at the time and a certain radio station would play a few of your songs on Saturday mornings and sometimes in the afternoon during the week. She would run to the radio and dance to your songs. Then during bathtime, she'd want me to sing your songs to her! 'Jesus the Soccer Star' was her favorite.”

“My daughter is entering high school next fall. You could pray that God gives her a close friend who loves Jesus.”

“My daughter is actively involved in the music ministry at our church, playing the keyboard. She has an amazing ear, sense of timing, and ability to pick up theory. She sings, too, naturally picking up harmony, and has taught herself guitar.”

“Your music was fun and clever for us parents, too. I hope your ministry is blessed and it's good to know you're still making music.”

“My older two daughters had a passion for dance so when they were little they loved dancing around the house with all the hand motions and movement inspiration you gave!”

Last weekend, his church gave the congregation a special treat by letting the Elementary Kids lead worship for the adult worship service! As my friend's eyes scanned the kids as they led worship, he noticed that out of the 80 kids who were leading, there were only 12 boys. That's 15%.

While there IS a lot of debate about a man's role and a woman's role in society today, the Bible is clear that men are to STEP UP (1 Peter 4:10), follow Christ (Luke 10:27), preach the gospel, serve, and lead! We MUST get boys and young men started thinking this way.

He has a Catholic background, and thinks that all world religions (Judaism, Catholicism, Islam) "started with the prophets," so they must all be correct. I tightened my lips, furrowed my eyebrows, nodded disapprovingly, and gently told him what the Bible teaches.

As I sketched out the "umbrella" illustration of God's hatred of sin and the protection Christ offers (The Umbrella Analogy), I prayed silently that the Holy Spirit would stir this man's heart. You thought God might "bust things loose in your ministry, and let you tell that story to tens-of-thousands." He kinda didn't, and you were confused and disappointed. Don't be.

Summer 2013 was busy with gigs.

Fall and Winter 2013 – not so much.

No gigs, and too little income to even re-manufacture CDs and t-shirts (you've probably noticed most of my CDs are "out of stock").

Was Rob Biagi Music finished?

Kathleen and I wondered. We were tempted to worry. We prayed.

We moved to Indiana to lower our cost of living (we were bummed to leave my son and his fiancée).

Here in Indiana, I tried selling mobile apps and working at Costco. Neither worked well.

We did, however, find a good Bible-teaching church!

We’ve made some good, nice friends.

I decided to start training some young adult performers to lead Kids’ Concerts.

I think it will work! I believe my songs are quite good.

In the mean time, I have set up my recording studio gear and started writing song ideas again.

I’ve also been making calls to Children’s Ministers in the Midwest, introducing myself.

We still don’t know how things will all work out, but that’s God’s part.

What we are sure of is this:

God loves his people (Romans 5:8)

God does whatever he pleases (Psalm 115:3)

God will take care of his people (Matthew 6)

God’s people should not love their earthly lives (John 12:25)

God’s people should set their minds on things above (Colossians 3:2)

We hope that YOU are sensing God’s nearness as he leads you through the ups and downs of earthly life. Whether you’re “flyin’ high” or “scraping your sorry tush on the bottom,” we hope you are seeking the God who created you. He is good, regardless of our circumstances down here!

- Rob Biagi, December 2013Rob Biagi Musictag:thatrobguy.com,2005:Post/6704952013-05-03T00:00:00-04:002014-01-09T12:01:41-05:00Biagi Family & Ministry Moving to Indiana!BIG NEWS! - It is with great joy (and some sadness, too) that I announce: My family, ministry and I are moving to Southern Indiana in mid-July! Monday through Saturday, my own daughters don’t choose to listen to many songs with really “churchy”/worshippy language (“Blessed Be Your Holy Name, Lord”). Instead they listen to songs by popular Christian rock bands and contemporary artists – not necessarily stuff that’s sung in high school or adult worship.

Remember – we have to think like the kids! If the adult volunteers love your Kids’ worship songs, you might not be reaching the kids! Your songs should “hook” the kids with a good melody and kid-friendly lyrics and biblical concepts. That way they can be reminded of God throughout the week, or think of him in a different way. Kids’ Music is “Not Just for Sunday”!

The songs I write are a kids-eye-view of the Christian life. Consider these lyrics:
- “I got the ‘Stink of the World’ off me…”
- “I don’t know about you; I just know about me. ‘I’m Followin’ Jesus’…”
- “Our house is a ‘Loud House,’ can’tcha see?…Praise rises from me.”
- “Every tear I’ve cried – You’ll wipe from my eyes and I’ll say, ‘Hallelujah, Thank You.’”

I’m not saying “get rid of the overtly 'churchy' songs,” I’m suggesting that kids don’t remember those as easily throughout the week. It’s not how they talk, and it’s not how they think. BUT THOSE SONGS ARE IMPORTANT to introduce kids to deeper truths about God’s nature, true worship, and biblical repentance and faith (and to get them ready for Junior High School). So mix them in. But make sure you’ve got lyrics and music styles that really GRAB the kids and make them remember Jesus at all different times throughout the week.

(CML Leukemia) My doctor says it's basically gone, but it'll come back if I don't take a super-expensive little white pill every day. (I know, I know - you think it's a big pharmaceutical company CONSPIRACY...!) For now, I'm just grateful that I'm in remission!

There are some side effects of the medication, so sometimes I quietly wish I could "time travel" back a few years. But other times I think "Man! I've got to stay in pretty-good physical condition so I can dance and sing with kids and families!"

On the other side, the Bible warns us not to become fitness fanatics: "For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come."

Years later, Graeme found out that "The Bug Song" was my song, and searched the Internet to see what other Christian songs I had for kids. He found "You're a V.I.P. to G-O-D" (and posted a video on "Rob Biagi Music" Facebook Page posted January 5, 2013). He also started following me on Twitter @robbiagi.

One day I tweeted, "Does anybody out there in the Twitterverse know how to make cool lyrics videos? I could sure use them!" Graeme answered, and offered to help me. I attached a new song, "Church Friends Are the Best" to my email list. I hope you and your kids like it. It's one of my favorite songs on the CD. It was inspired by two girls at my church - Lucy Ann and Cosette - the tightest young "church friends" I've ever seen!

And thanks to all of you moms, dads, and Children's Ministers who are "church friends" of my family and me. "Church friends are the best, ah yes!"

Some people say my church is lucky to have me there leading kids' worship. Maybe. Or is it I'M LUCKY to have the chance to lead the kids and watch their families grow in Christ?

I don't sing all my own songs during kids' worship. And you shouldn't do all one artist's (or company's) songs, either. It's like going to a buffet and only eating the soft serve ice cream. Sure, it tastes good, and it's easy to work that machine, but it's a "milk" product, and it's not that good for you. You need MEAT. Spiritual meat!

And when they introduce a new recipe, bread, soup, or dessert - try some! Put it in the mix! Don't keep getting the same thing you've always gotten. There might be a new flavor that makes your tastebuds dance and sing!

Is it their complexity? Simplicity? Hipness? Learnability?

It’s all of these. Truth is, you may be losing kids’ interest (especially the boys) if your motions are:
- too girly
- too complicated
- too simplistic, repetitive, or “mellow”

If your ministry kids “check out” during worship time, you’re missing a POWERFUL chance to reinforce the truth you’re teaching from God’s word (which IS the point of church – you’re not just “entertaining the kids,” are you?!)

So – consider re-working your existing motions to be:
- simple enough that kids "get it" (or much of it) right away
- complicated enough that a part or two will challenge them
- memorable enough that kids REMEMBER the Lord Jesus Christ (or whatever Christian attribute you’re singing about!)

Kids want to dance and sing…look at the popularity of the “Just Dance” video game! 1. Do the kids feel comfortable? I want this to be a good experience for them...
2. Is the music too loud? I don't want to hurt 'em
3. Is the music loud enough? I don't want to bore them
4. Is that my tennis shoes I smell?
5. Did I pick good songs for them?
6. Why isn’t Bailey dancing and singing? She's usually into it!
7. Do I really need to be wearing a microphone? I think they can hear me without it
8. What part of the song comes next?
9. Annabelle is such a funny kid!
10. Should I let a preschooler pray on the microphone?
11. I need more tech help at this service!
12. There are lots of kids here today!
13. Some of the kids are SO shy…I wonder what to do to make them comfortable with me…?
14. Do I smell cookies?
15. The kids don’t seem to be "playing along" with this song…
16. Are the motions too hard?
17. Is it too theologically advanced for them?
18. Naw...this is working! This is fun!
19. Why don’t more people join the Worship Team? It's just me and one girl at this service...
20. Is there a key change in this song or not?
21. I wonder if they can see my stomach when I lift my hands like this?
22. That looks like Pastor Mark's kid. She's so BIG now!
23. I should really get some better jeans…these are kinda faded…
24. I wish the teachers would do the motions more “full-out,” then the kids would follow their lead
25. Why did that girl’s parents put her in a “Spoiled Princess” shirt? That's not something to be proud of or aspire to...!
26. Wow – the sermon is longer today…
27. Should I do another song to fill the time?
28. Noah and Cole are running in circles and fighting…should I break them up? No one else is...
29. I wonder if the kids sing this song at their houses?
30. Oh yeah...the garage door opener isn't working at our house...
31. I’m kinda sick of this song – I wonder if the kids are, too?
32. God – am I doing a good job representing you? I trust that you are doing great ministry through me and this music…

And that was during ONE SONG! ...and you thought leading Kids' Worship was just singing and dancing!
Rob Biagi Musictag:thatrobguy.com,2005:Post/2724942012-12-28T10:25:00-05:002014-01-09T12:04:10-05:00“Big-Church Leftovers” for KidMin!KIDS Ministry at our church is using wireless mics, speakers, cables, and even PEOPLE from the main stage “Big Church.” What about you?

Yeah...And Here's Why...God promises to take care of his people (Psalm 16, Matthew 10:29-31), so I'm not overly concerned about money. I want what God wants - that "all the world" hears of his truth, and his love. The messages of these songs are so, so important! And they are God's words, not Rob's (but I AM very proud of the music - ha ha).

But yeah, I pray for big sales. Large numbers of people need to hear the truth that repentance from sin and trust in Jesus Christ to carry them through this life and into the next is required. I also pray that true Christians would grow in spiritual maturity ("Grown-Up...) yet keep their childlike faith, joy, and zeal (...Kid"). Then we get intense and zealous as we pray and seek God's "blessing" to make things "right" again.

Yikes. I've done that before. Please forgive me, Lord. I've treated You - the God of the Universe - like a "good neighbor" who is "there" when I need Him. And only when I need Him. After all, a life insurance salesman doesn't move into your house and start directing your life moment by moment...but God must for those he calls, saves, loves, and for those who wish to be transformed into the image of his son Jesus Christ.

God created us. He is the Boss of us. But he is good! And loving to his children! We are to seek him, obey him, serve him, and love him with all our hearts until Christ returns.

Our lives are not our own (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Let's build God's Kingdom, not our own!

(Thanks to Dr. Mike Fabarez for the "Life Insurance Agent" ideas...)
Rob Biagi Musictag:thatrobguy.com,2005:Post/1944202012-07-29T05:28:15-04:002017-01-14T11:03:46-05:00Kids' Worship Didn't "Work" Last NightPreschool boys were chasing each other around during a slow song. The 5th and 6th graders were hesitant to sing and do the motions. The 2nd graders had to be told to stand up several times. Even a couple of staff kids seemed uncharacteristically uninvolved...

So - was Kids' Worship a failure last night? I was tempted to think so. But then I remembered that I am commanded to worship God (Col. 3:16), and encourage the children to do likewise. It's not a "performance," whose "success" is determined by the [obvious, outward] response of the "audience." It is sowing seeds of God's truth through song and dance.

It took me two rotations (K-4th and preschool) of struggling with discouragement, but then I prayed again, and God softened my heart. Like I said, the 5th and 6th graders were hesitant, but my focus was correct, and I stayed encouraging and positive!

So - Kids' Worship "worked"?! God knows, and he is in control. That happened recently, and that's when it hit me. God wants me to sing for Him. We want to continue to produce new songs and video product that makes your kids happy, and reinforces the values that you hold dear. New songs are being written!
Rob Biagi Musictag:thatrobguy.com,2005:Post/1480712012-01-14T13:55:00-05:002012-01-14T13:55:00-05:00Consider This . . . Do kids go around singing the songs?

Good question. It’s THE question, actually. Children go around singing the most melodic, clever, memorable songs they’ve heard. Songs from musicals, Disney songs, adult worship songs.

But parents and Children’s Ministers don’t have time to preview all the Christian kids’ music CDs to find biblically accurate, high-energy, fun music.

And many Christian kids’ CDs sound like kids’ choir rehearsal CDs. Today’s 3rd-6th grade kids don’t like that sound and style.

And then there are the motions. Most Kids’ Church motions are either too simplistic, or too much like show choreography. [My wife] Kathleen Biagi makes up the best motions in the world, because her motions:
...are simple enough for the kids to learn.
...are complicated enough that it takes some "game".
NOTE: Rob Biagi is also the Kids’ Ministry Music Leader at Compass Bible Church in Aliso Viejo, CA www.compasschurch.org

Rob Biagi Musictag:thatrobguy.com,2005:Post/1272382011-12-08T06:05:00-05:002020-10-09T07:05:44-04:00Funny Things About "Voice Rest"Since having vocal cord surgery last week, I've been on "vocal rest" [no speaking, no talking, no throat-clearning, nuttin'.] It's been weird.

My poor wife is talking twice as much, trying to make up the difference. People around me are talking louder, as if I'm deaf AND mute. Funny. Others are using hand motions [their attempts at Sign Language] in addition to their words, like that's going to help me.

My wife has called me on the phone a few times, and I've whistled to let her know I'm there, but I can't speak. Then she laughs and starts asking me "yes" or "no" questions. "One clap for yes; two claps for no."

It's been hard to do my usual songwriting sessions, because I do a lot of singing melodies and rhythms while I play my keyboard, searching for song ideas. I've been feeling pretty useless.

I said I was going to read the Bible and pray, which I have, but I most enjoy speaking my prayers, which I can't do at present, so I've prayed less the past couple of weeks. Booooo...so, I'm going to stop blogging and pull out my Prayer Journal [Word document] and start typing. Bye for now!
Rob Biagi Musictag:thatrobguy.com,2005:Post/1262072011-12-01T18:53:11-05:002020-06-16T23:13:43-04:00ROB BIAGI SURGERY UPDATE (Dec. 1, 2011)Today I had surgery to remove nodules on my vocal cords. The surgery went well, the doctor did [what seems to be] a beautiful job zapping that laser around in my throat [I saw “before and after” photos], and now I begin 1-2 weeks of vocal rest. Oh well...

I was under general anesthesia, so I’m feeling physically weak, but otherwise good and very grateful. My throat hurts when I swallow, so I need to quit bein' a baby.

Thank you for your prayers and thoughts of my family and me! My prayer and hope now is that there will be no scarring or damage to my vocal folds, and that I’ll have my full voice range back to make a new CD in 2012.

I will use this “quiet time” to read and study God’s word, to write in my Prayer Journal, and to compose melodies and chord progressions for potential new songs! – Rob Biagi 12/1/2011Rob Biagi Musictag:thatrobguy.com,2005:Post/1246622011-11-22T00:00:00-05:002014-01-09T12:12:36-05:00Keeping Out of TroubleMany of you know that I've been on "vocal rest" to heal the nodules and broken blood vessels on my vocal cords. Thanks for the prayers!

What I didn't realize is how "not speaking" can keep you out of so much trouble! (Proverbs 21:23) Seriously! Every time I really want to "say" something, I have to decide if it's worth the hassle of writing it on the little white board I carry with me. Most often I just keep quiet.

Abraham Lincoln was right - "'Tls better to keep quiet and be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt."Rob Biagi Musictag:thatrobguy.com,2005:Post/1214932011-11-03T04:30:00-04:002011-11-03T04:30:00-04:00The Kid Who Learned to Make CoffeeWhen I started out as a Kids’ Worship Leader, I wanted to captivate kids with our church's music time. I wanted them to be SO PUMPED for music time that they'd never be late. We started music at 9am SHARP, and Parker, the 4th grade boy, didn't want to miss it.

He used to stand at the bottom of the stairs and shake his dad's car keys so the family would "get moving" and not make him late to Kids' Church.

Then, he learned to make coffee. The kid was INTO IT!

Is what we are doing in Children's Ministry compelling and captivating? If not, let's make changes! God deserves our BEST.
Rob Biagi Musictag:thatrobguy.com,2005:Post/1207872011-10-30T03:20:00-04:002011-10-30T03:20:00-04:00You Shine and You Shine and You ShineLast night a grandma came up to the merch table and bought all 3 of my music CDs for her grandson. I love that! You guys are SO supportive of my family, my music, and me. You shine!

I often hear that my music is the "soundtrack" of your carpools, your neighborhood dance parties, your child's "falling asleep" or "waking up" time [not sure how it works for "falling asleep"...ha ha], and that you use it in your Kids' Church/Sunday School time. One girl said that my music is "helping her get through graduate school." Man!

But I'm excited and humbled to be a part of your lives. - Blessings, Rob B.Rob Biagi Musictag:thatrobguy.com,2005:Post/1206952011-10-29T05:03:15-04:002011-10-29T05:03:15-04:00Chili’s Wait-Staff Serving the BiagisI was at lunch with my parents at Chili’s Grill & Bar in Huntington Beach yesterday, and I was reminded that the servers there had done many things to help our daughter Natalie during her Leukemia treatment between 2007-2009.

It reminded me that I need to stay grateful and keep thanking those of you who prayed so long and so hard for Natalie and us. We love you and thank you!

BTW – Natalie’s lab tests have been “clean and clear” since December 2009. So far, so great!
Rob Biagi Musictag:thatrobguy.com,2005:Post/1206932011-10-29T04:53:58-04:002011-10-29T04:53:58-04:00Snuggle More! Some of us are snugglers, some are not. We should all snuggle more. Researchers: c’mon, back me up! Humans need 8-12 “meaningful touches” per day.

[My 6-year-old daughter] Natalie was still asleep when I got up to walk this morning, so I laid my head and shoulders down on her bed for a little snuggle. Truth is, she doesn’t snuggle for long when she’s awake.

But it sure made me happy! How about you? Do you need to get more snuggles? Give more snuggles? Stretch out your arms, smile with your lips, eyebrows up, tilt your head to one side, and see if someone you love won’t let you hug ‘em!
Rob Biagi Musictag:thatrobguy.com,2005:Post/1194402011-10-20T08:48:46-04:002020-03-11T07:24:10-04:00Singing and Dancing Will Make You Feel Better! Are you tired, run down, listless? I have been asked about the meaning of that song a few times over the years, so - at concerts - I give a full-blown-explanation of the lyrics, saying “It tells the historical truth that Jesus Christ [God the Son] left his rightful place in heaven to solve the sin problem of mankind [every person who repents of their sin and trusts in Christ's substitutionary life, death on the cross, burial, and resurrection from the dead.] Plus, it asks a fun question: if we were alive back in the time of Christ's earthly ministry and we had a game of soccer going, would Jesus want to join in the game?”

So - is that the message YOU get from the "Soccer Star" lyrics, or was it something else? And do you think that the Lord Jesus would “play with us”? [please comment below]
Rob Biagi Musictag:thatrobguy.com,2005:Post/1186432011-10-14T09:40:00-04:002011-10-14T09:40:00-04:00Must "Maroon 5" Be So Vulgar?I submit to you that Maroon 5 is the best-sounding, best-produced rock band of the last 20 years. Those are some funky white boys. Unfortunately, their songs are full of profanity, hyper-sexuality, and death threats. Rats! I could have been a big fan…

But “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” - Joshua 24:15
Rob Biagi Musictag:thatrobguy.com,2005:Post/1184522011-10-13T04:05:00-04:002011-10-13T04:05:00-04:00Work OutI used to weigh 202 pounds. But I got fit. By doing work. By working out. I wake up in the 5:00 hour every day to walk, lift weights, stretch, and do push-ups. It’s hard work. But I weigh 170 pounds now and I have the most energy I've had in 20 years.

So why do we think we can “sit around” and “dwell on Christ” and think we are going to be spiritually fit?

To get results in anything takes commitment, consistency, and hard work: physical fitness, your golf swing, cooking, learning an instrument, reading the Bible.

God calls us “workmen” in 2 Timothy 2:15. The New Testament Greek word means “workmen,” not "philosophers."

The point, however, is not to win in "Bible Trivia;" it's to know the One who wrote the letter.

Until then, may I never say “reading and studying the Bible is too much work, where’s my People Magazine?”
Rob Biagi Musictag:thatrobguy.com,2005:Post/1181612011-10-11T05:10:00-04:002011-10-11T05:10:00-04:00Rob's Songs Reinforce What Parents Teach?I write my songs to reinforce the biblical truths that parents are teaching their kids.

But I am concerned that many fathers are not “stepping up” into their God-given command to be the “spiritual head of the household” (Deuteronomy 6:6-8 "And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise." ESV)

Don't be overwhelmed, men. Just begin. We can learn with our children. The keys are to pray, study, and get started!
Rob Biagi Musictag:thatrobguy.com,2005:Post/1179822011-10-09T16:35:00-04:002011-10-09T16:35:00-04:00"The Liberty Town"We've been in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area doing concerts this week. I got to hear Chuck Smith [founding Pastor of Calvary Chapel] preach a brief sermon on Psalm 73 this morning. Legendary man.

We did a show in New Jersey tonight at Calvary Chapel Vineland, NJ. Great people. I'd never been to New Jersey before.

Hey - are we coming to YOUR church or school some time soon? Ask your Children's Minister to invite us!

Blessings to you - Rob Biagi & family
Rob Biagi Musictag:thatrobguy.com,2005:Post/1165542011-08-28T19:10:00-04:002011-08-28T19:10:00-04:00Don't Buy the HypeJust because Kids’ Worship is high-energy and makes kids jump up and down doesn’t mean it’s quality. Don’t buy the hype! (necessarily). Make sure it’s biblical, memorable, and thought-provoking, too.

Consider my most hyper song, “Before I Go, I Stop” (from the “GET OUT THERE!” CD/DVD). It’s pretty thrashy and rockin’, but the lyrics say: “I go all out. Beyond any doubt. I want my life to SHOUT - ‘God is alive in me!’”

The motions call for kids to jump, pump their fists HARD, shake their heads (and so forth), but it’s a solid biblical, thought-provoking message, too.

I’m just sayin...
Rob Biagi Music
